Light from the surface seeps into the large cavernous industrial sector below the prospering mega-city.
A practice 3D environment concept piece that I did over the weekend, utilizing a sci-fi building asset pack purchased from Turbosquid.
Though the pack came with both models and diffuse textures, I still needed to do significant look-development, in Clarisse iFX, in order to achieve a more realistic and acceptable result.
after doing some simple scattering, I brought the renders into Nuke to prepare all the layers for grading and integration. Afterwards I exported intermediate layers into Photoshop, where I added additional details and refinement, then merged them back into Nuke to output the final image.
Overall this is about 80% 3D, 10% comp effects, and about 5% paint over.
