Assault on the Emperor's archive.

Elite special ops teams are sent to retrieve sensitive information that might aid in the downfall of the tyrannical regime's grip on the solar system.

This was a fun experiment, and first time trying to do a 360 painting. I was trying to mix 3d and 2d in this approach and I feel it has some great benefits. The final image is more immersive, and has the ability to tell a more grand story and convey more movement and emotion.

Also from a technical standpoint, you can use the 360 painting as an environment lighting map for your 3d objects, greatly reducing the time it takes to integrate 3d renders into your final image.

Looking forward to experimenting with log colorspace with this process in the future to create fully dynamic environment maps for 3d rendering and digital matte painting workflows. I can see some great potential, but I just wish the preview in Photoshop was a bit higher resolution.
